Are you fresh out of ideas on how to quilt your latest project?  Do you have unquilted tops piling up?  Does the final stage of quilting seem too much to cope with? Is quilting not the “fun part” of sewing for you? Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can see some simple ideas that will quickly enable you to complete your quilting project on your own domestic machine.  Individuals or small groups who have completed the same project (mystery quilts, block-of-the-month, friends sharing patterns) may  enjoy an ideas seminar where simple to complex ideas are generated that will complement your piecing and allow you to finish the project.

Beginner’s Long Arm

This class will demonstrate Long Arm basics:  loading, pantograph (edge-to-edge) design placement, stylus laser use, basic free hand techniques, ruler work and design

Discussions will include thread choice, tension issues, batting options, design suitability and creative design.

This lecture/ demonstration class will be strongly biased toward the ABM Innova machine, but is suitable for any new long arm owner or those who may be interested in purchasing.

Quilt as Desired Level 1: No Mark Finishing Techniques

Quilt as Desired.  Ever get to this point in the pattern and run out of ideas?  This class reviews some basic “no mark” quilting techniques which transition gently into free motion quilting.  Batting and thread choices will be covered. Bring your WIPs and we can brainstorm  finishing ideas for you.  Lecture format.

Quilt as Desired Level 2: The Dogs are Down!

After getting creative with Level 1, it’s time to drop the feeddogs and explore finishing techniques with free-motion stitching.  Marking tools, background fillers, individual block design, controlling borders and thread options will be covered. A show and tell of WIPs will be encouraged so you can go home with ideas specifically relevant to you!  Lecture format.
