Quilting Services
Services Offered:

Thread prices begin at $10.00 and increase with the type of thread and the density of design (amount used). *

- Binding Charge: I will machine stitch a French double fold binding with mitered corners to allow for a hand stitched finish on the back of your quilt. Sewn to the front for $.15/per linear inch. Machine finished on both sides for $.25/linear inch. For hand finishing, $.35/per linear inch. *
Success Tips:
- Do not baste or pin your quilt sandwich. Bring as three separate items – top, backing, batting. I have Pellon 80/20 batting available for purchase.
- Your quilt should be pressed, squared and stray threads cuts. I can provide these services for an extra fee.
- Trimming selvages before piecing the backing and ironing backing seams OPEN will improve the appearance of your finished quilt.
- Backing fabric should measure at least 6-8” larger than the top in width and length (ie.3-4” more on each side)
- Batting should be 4” larger than the top in width and length.
- If you have pieced borders or pieced blocks to the edges of your quilt, it is best to stabilize the edges with stay stitching 1/8 from the edge.
Attaching Borders
1. Measure your quilt across the center and along two side edges. Write these measurements down and then find their average by adding them together and dividing by 3.
2. Cut the two side borders for your quilt to the width described in your pattern, but cut the length to the AVERAGE measurement from Step One. Fold the strip in half and mark its center. Align and pin the center of the border with the center point at the edge of the quilt top.
Pin the two ends of the border to the top and bottom of the quilt, aligning their edges. Begin easing the quilt and border to fit each other, using lots of pins to hold them in place. Stitch the seam, easing the fullness between the pins. Repeat with the other side.
3. After pressing the side border seams, use Step One again to measure along the quilt’s top, horizontal middle and bottom edge. Find the average measurement, then cut and attach the top and bottom borders to the body of the quilt as in Step 2.
